“10-10 – I Care Day” Campaign

What would the world be like if on one day every person did one thing each hour for 10 hours to make a difference in 10 people’s lives. The B.I.O.N.I.C. Team (which stands for Believe It Or Not I Care) wants to know so we created “10-10 – I Care Day.”

In the past several years the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team has encouraged people to make an all out effort on one day to see how much difference their school, group, business, organization, house of worship, etc. could make in the lives of others in their community on that day. The days we chose were 11-11-11 and 12-12-12. The students at our school loved seeing the impact and since there isn’t an 13-13-13 we decided to pick October 10th – “10-10” – as our designated day.

There are several ways to get involved. Since 10-10 is a Saturday this year, we encourage people to do individual outreaches at school or work on the 9th so those you spend your weekdays with will be impacted too. So the ideas below can be done on either

Individually – We challenge everyone for ten hours on 10-10 to do one nice thing each hour for someone else. Here are some ideas:

  • Say “hi”
  • Thank a teacher for grading your work
  • Thank your parent for coming to your game or doing your wash
  • Tell someone what you appreciate about them
  • Say “thank you”
  • Open the door for someone
  • Let someone else go first in line
  • Pay for someone’s coffee
  • Look for someone sitting alone at lunch and invite them to eat with you

We also encourage people to take eleven “10-10 – I Care Day” cards to give one to someone each hour – or more if they wanted. We encourage them to just write the recipient’s name on the card, and even write on the back what they appreciate about the person. A .pdf of the cards that you can print off will be posted on here in the next couple days.

Schools, businesses, churches, etc. – We challenge schools, businesses and churches to see how many outreaches they can accomplish as a whole on 10-10. If you would like to see some ideas people had, look at our BIONIC 10-10 Facebook page. If you or your school/group want to participate, let us know. We even created a Twitter account to give people ideas on how to make a difference in someone’s life at @Bionicteam. Use our hashtag at #1010ICare to keep up with other comments and ideas. Let’s see if we can get it “trending” on 10-10!

Community Service Project – This year our community service project will feature a Sock Hop for the residents of the Sunrise Senior Living Centers in Colorado and senior citizens from our community. We will have more information coming on that soon.

  3. Alma thanks for your B.I.O.N.I.C Team work at Livingston Middle School in CA for many years! You have impacted a lot of lives! Let us know how the day goes at Livingston. Are you going to be a part of the Simulcast?

  4. Bettendorf Middle School BIONIC Team is up and running. We are encouraging students and staff to participate in the 12 acts of kindness for others today and then community service projects as well. We put some videos up on the facebook page and we are keeping track of the things that are happening in our building today. Our kids are excited to make history. We have been delivering pies to those in our building that have had a loss and so far that has been 16. We are also making care packages to welcome new students to our building. This is an awesome experience that gives to those that participate as much as it gives to others.
