The B.I.O.N.I.C. Team held a Benefit Concert featuring acoustic guitarist David Marais on Monday, March 14^th in the Green Mountain High School Auditorium. The concert was sponsored by Colorado Home Renewal “Your Roof’s Best Friend” in honor of the vital work the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team school clubs are doing in schools – elementary through college – across the world.

David Marais is from South Africa and is known as the “Campfire Guitarist.” In Colorado, where B.I.O.N.I.C. was started, many of us have great memories of sitting around the campfire singing songs with that special sound of the guitar and singing rising up among the pine trees! How many of us remember John Denver singing “Rocky Mountain High” around the campfire? David can sing “Rocky Mountain High” with the best of them. David Marais is an accomplished musician in his own right with the thousands of songs that he plays, of which many are captured on his YouTube channel.

Originally from beautiful Cape Town, South Africa, for the last twenty-plus years David has been entertaining audiences in Denver and the Rocky Mountains with his acoustic songs that cover hundreds of old and new favorites, in addition to his original compositions.

This concert was a very special event because it is brought the roots of B.I.O.N.I.C. home to where it all began at Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, Colorado and then celebrated where it spread to Pomona High School in Arvada, Colorado and now worldwide!
