WELCOME

The B.I.O.N.I.C. Team is a movement to empower young people to positively impact their world by reaching out to those facing challenging times and to prevent others from falling through the cracks! It was started by school counselor Sandy Austin in the 2004-05 school year at Green Mountain High School in Lakewood, Colorado in response to the suicides of four students a few years earlier. Since then over 140,000 people have been reached by B.I.O.N.I.C. Team efforts. Over 2,300 schools around the world have inquired about starting a B.I.O.N.I.C. Team on their school campus.

Through the B.I.O.N.I.C. Team young people are making a difference in their world by helping new students, sick or hospitalized students, students and staff who lose loved ones, other schools experiencing tragedy. Our “10/10 - I Care Day” is an effort on October 10th to see how great of an impact we can have in one day if everyone reaches out to 10 people – 1 person each hour for 10 hours. Just imagine what a school of 1,000 students could look like if there were 10,000 positive outreaches at that school in one day! Our recent initiatives “Prevent Bullying by Just Saying H.I.” and the Inter-generational Team (reaching out to the elderly) have increased our impact to help make more caring schools and communities. Look through these pages to see what the B.I.O.N.I.C Team is all about.
